The objective of the program is to enhance the financial and economic policymaking capacity of governments in Asia and to promote high-quality and sustainable growth in the region, and also to train potential candidates for staff economist positions at the Fund.

The Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Advanced Studies, provides scholarships for qualified scholars who want to study economics at the doctorate level at a leading university in North America.

How to apply for the Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Advanced Studies

The Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Advanced Studies is targeted to nationals of IMF Asian member countries interested in studying for their doctorates in economics in order to work in an international financial institution (such as the IMF or the World Bank) or in their home administrations.

To apply for the program, candidates must show that they have been admitted to a Ph.D. program in economics at one of North America's or Australia's leading universities.

Those selected for the Scholarship Program attend an orientation course in Washington, D.C., shortly before they begin their studies at their respective university. Scholarships cover all reasonable costs for the first two years of study. Scholars are expected to secure another source of funding to cover the remaining years of study.

Scholarships are awarded in the spring, for studies starting in the fall of that year. How to apply for the MEXT scholarship

Scholarship recipients are recruited and initially screened by a Japanese embassy (or consulate general, depending on the country).

The preliminary screening (documentary examination, written test and interview) is made at the embassy between May and August 2007. The embassy then recommends the selected candidates to the MEXT through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the beginning of September.

Application Guidelines for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarships 2008

Application Guideline
Application Form
Application Form (Attachment)
Field of Study and Study Program

Recommendation Form
Certificate of Health

The deadlines of the applications differ according to the country. Please contact Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country.

Because the application processes differ according to the country in which the Japanese embassy is located, please inquire at the Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country for the details.

2. Applicants who wish to enroll at IUJ

If you wish to enroll at IUJ, you are required to pass the preliminary selection examination.

Then please contact admissions and submit the following documents to obtain a letter of acceptance*.

* Until FY2005, each applicant was requested to contact a professor of the university of his/her choice to obtain a letter of acceptance in advance. Please note that this procedure has been changed. General scholarship and educational stipend information from the American Dietetic Association Foundation, the dietetic practice groups and affiliate (state) and district dietetic associations can be accessed from the respective group's information listed on this site.

Scholarships Offered Through the American Dietetic Association Foundation
Scholarships, including funds set up by many of the affiliate (state) dietetic associations and dietetic practice groups, are available to encourage eligible students and members to enroll in dietetics programs. All ADAF scholarships require ADA membership; some may require specific dietetic practice group membership and residency in a specific state.

While all students are eligible for most ADAF scholarships, some are specified for dietetics students who are members of underrepresented groups.

Eligibility and Application Information
Scholarships awarded by the ADAF are generally for ADA members enrolled in the junior or senior year of a baccalaureate or coordinated program in dietetics or the second year of study in a dietetic technician program, a dietetic internship program or a graduate program. One application form is used for all ADAF scholarships. The number of scholarships available and their dollar amounts vary from year to year. For the 2006-2007 academic year, 211 scholarships were awarded in amounts ranging from $500 to $3,000. The majority of the scholarships awarded are for $1,000. The September Journal of the American Dietetic Association includes information about ADAF scholarships.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements and 2008-2009 ADAF Application Posting Date

The ADAF scholarship form is also available by contacting the Education Team by phone at 800/877-1600, ext. 5400 or e-mail at education@eatright.org. Applications are available each year between mid-September and mid-January. The annual deadline for submitting applications is in mid-February. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic or program year.

Scholarships Offered by Other ADA Groups
Scholarships from the dietetic practice groups and the affiliate and district dietetic associations generally require membership in that group or residence in its area. This publication was made possible through the Wimpfheimer-Guggenheim Fund for International Exchange in Nutrition, Dietetics and Management.

The 90-page directory is a reference for U.S. and international students and professionals who are seeking funding for professional study, work experience or research in their home country or abroad. The publication lists more than 100 groups offering financial assistance and features education organizations, loan programs, literature and Internet resources. Download the free pdf version.

Other Sources of Financial Aid
Financial assistance is essential for many students enrolled in dietetics education programs.
